New CD Now Available

A new CD titled "Brown County Texas Timeline, 1838-2013," with 61 pages, and 85 black and white photos, is now available at the Brownwood Local History and Genealogy Branch Library, as well as the Brown County Museum of History, for $10 during their normal business hours.

New Lehnis Train Museum Layout

Academy of Freedom Closed

The Howard Payne University Douglas MacArthur Academy of Freedom is closed to the public indefinitely due to renovations. Tours of the facility will not be conducted during this time.

Information about the Academy’s reopening will be provided as available.

CD About Camp Bowie

The Heritage Association produced a Power Point CD on Camp Bowie with photos and text.  The CD, is priced at $10, and is now available at the Brown County Museum, the Genealogy and History Reserarch Library and at the Lehnis Train Museum.

Hours for Library Local History and Genealogy

The Brownwood Library of Local History and Genealogy is open from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm, Tuesday through Friday.  They are now closed on Saturday through Monday.  Call them at: 325/646-6006

Museum Open on Thursday to Saturday

The Brown County Museum of History is open Thursday and Friday from 10 am until 2 pm  and on Saturdays from 10 am until 4 pm.  You may want to call them at 325/641-1926 prior going to the museum to be sure they are open.  This also includes the Texas Firearms Museum.
