CD About Camp Bowie

The Heritage Association produced a Power Point CD on Camp Bowie with photos and text.  The CD, is priced at $10, and is now available at the Brown County Museum, the Genealogy and History Reserarch Library and at the Lehnis Train Museum.

Also in the works is a CD of the Brown County History website that will allow you to cruise the website and all its historical photos and text without having to go online. 

In addtion, work is ongoing on a hisory of the railroads in Brown County.  It wil be available on CD as well as a printed booklet to be sold by the Lehnis Railroad Museum at some future date. 



August Heritage Association Meeting

The August  Heritage Association Meeting will be held Friday, August 27, 2010, noon, at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce.    Sunni Holloway will be the moderator.  Public is invited to attend these informal meetings where the various organizations update fellow members on their projects and activities.



Hours for Library Local History and Genealogy

The Brownwood Library of Local History and Genealogy is open from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm, Tuesday through Friday.  They are now closed on Saturday through Monday.  Call them at: 325/646-6006



Museum Open on Saturdays

The Brown County Museum of History is on Saturdays from 10 am until 4 pm.  You may want to call them at 325/641-1926 prior going to the museum to be sure they are open.  This also includes the Texas Firearms Museum.



 Brochure Produced by Heritage Association

The Heritage Association of Brown County has produced its first brochure highlighting all the historical sites, places and resources in Brown County.  They printed 100,000 copies, which are distributed to all the entry points into Texas,  nearby Chamber of Commerce, museums, hotels, motels and other places around this area.

The brochure, titled "Imagine the Past in the Heart of Texas," will give visitors a birds eye view of what is available to see in this area.  It includes phone numbers and websites of the various attractions, including the Chamber of Commerce for Early and Brownwood.
